This article will show you how to add a Product. Products are added to proposals and correlate to the services provided to the client.

Creating A Product

Step 1: Navigate to the "Products" Screen and click on the Product Type to which the product will be added.

  • Example: Click on "Crackfill"

Step 2: Click the "Create Product" button in the top-right corner.

Step 3: Enter the information needed to the Product:

  • Name: The Name of the Product that should appear on Proposals, Work Orders, Invoices, etc.
  • Material Cost Type: How do you purchase the Product? i.e. In Blocks, In Gallons, In Tons, etc.
  • Material Cost: How much does the Material cost per Material Cost Type?
    • i.e. $22.00 per Block
  • Measurement Method: When quoting the Product, how is the Product measured?
  • Labor Cost Type: Do you charge by the man hour, by the job or by how many units are completed?
  • Daily Job Completion Rate: How many units of this Product can your Crew complete in a day?
  • Crew: Select the Crew that will perform the work. This is needed to calculate Labor Costs
  • Minimum Proposal Amount: What is the minimum amount that should be charged for a Job?
    • Example - if there is a small job that only calculates to $500, but your company will only take jobs that are at least $750, then you would enter $750. Any proposal under that amount will be rounded up to $750 and the difference will be added to the Profit Margin.
  • Minimum Product Cost: Also for small jobs, if a job only requires $100 of Material but there are minimum order requirements then enter your minimum order requirements.
    • Example - If a Job only requires $100 of Material but the minimum Material order amount is $250, then enter "250." The proposal will round up to $250 and the difference will be added to the Profit Margin.
  • Markup Percentage: If this product has a different Markup Percentage than the default Product Type Markup Percentage, enter the Product specific Markup Percentage.
  • Statement of Work: This is the text that will appear in the Proposal and Work Order for this Product.
    • Sample:
Apply  {{Job Size}} Square Feet of {{Product Name}}
Apply {{Product Name}}, a high performance, high-density, emulsion based asphalt polymer treatment at a minimum rate of 60 wet mils.
The pavement sealcoat consists of at least 2% cutting edge polymers for added durability and better resistance to ultraviolet rays, oxidation, water, and chemicals.
  • Equipment Pieces: Select the Equipment Pieces that will be used for this product by default. This section should only be used for equipment that will be added to each Proposal for this product. You can add or remove extra pieces of equipment for specific Jobs within the Proposal.
  • Additional Costs: Select the Additional Costs that will be used for this product by default. This section should only be used for Additional Costs that will be added to each Proposal for this product. You can add or remove extra Additional Costs for specific Jobs within the Proposal.

Product Specific Settings

Some Product Types have specific settings. Those settings are called out below:

CrackSeal and Mastic Product Types

  • Crack Depth: Average Crack Depth for the Job.
  • Crack Width: Average Crack Width for the Job.
  • Overband Width: Average Overband Application width for the Job.
  • Overband Thickness: Average application thickness for the overband for the Job.
    • NOTE: Overband Thickness is measured in inches. So for Mils divide your mils thickness by 100. i.e. 60 Mils would = .06 inches.
  • Select Product to Calculate Area Coverage: This is a widget so you can select the exact product used on the job. Bitumio has done the work to pre-load weights and dimensions of products so we can accurately calculate the coverage of a single unit. Once you select your product, the weight and dimensions of the product will be loaded and the "Average Coverage per Block" will be calculated based on the crack dimensions and the product selected.
    • Custom Product: If Bitumio does not have your product preloaded, select the "Custom" option. This will allow manual inputs for Pounds per Gallon and Pounds per Block.

Asphalt and Slurry Products

  • Application Rate:
    • Asphalt: How thick will the material be applied in inches? i.e. 3 inches for Asphalt
    • Slurry: How many pounds of aggregate will be applied per Square Yard (i.e 13 pounds per Square Yard)
  • Plant: Select the default plant from which Material will be pulled. This can be overwritten later within a Proposal.  See Creating Plants for more information
  • Plant Product: For the specified plant, select the default product that will be used for this Product. This can be overwritten later within a Proposal.
